Blockage is the Root of All Disease

Excerpts from the American Botanical Pharmacy, March 2012

Accumulated waste can kill you! The human body is a metabolic engine.  Every system, every organ, in fact, every cell of the human body, takes in fuel to run and eliminates waste material. The majority of this waste is deposited into your colon. If this waste isn't eliminated regularly from your colon, it will cause your body to back up with poisonous toxins. When this backed-up poison reaches critical levels, it can cause just about every disease known.

If the old natural healers and now the medical doctors are right, and our colon is swollen with pounds of old, retained fecal matter, then something else has to be crushed, because there is no extra space.  The entire colon is so big that it is connected to, touches, or is in the vicinity of every major organ in the human body, except the brain.  Everything has its place and there is no extra room.

Constipation causes the colon to swell.  When this happens, it can compress the lungs, heart, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, adrenals, uterus or prostate.  A constipated colon can cause an almost endless amount of seemingly unrelated diseases and problems.

Look at all the disease that can be caused by constipation:  heart problems, female problems, back pain, depression, anxiety and emotional problems, kidney disease, breathing and lung problems, infertility, prostate problems, sciatica, arthritis, basically EVERYTHING!

Because of most Americans' high levels of constipation and our unwillingness to talk about it, we have now been awarded with the highest incidence of colon cancer and disease of any country in the world.  The Merck Manual, the medical industry's standard text for the diagnosis and treatment of disease, tells us that colon degeneration is on the rise.  The incidence of diverticulosis (sacular herniations inside the large intestine) has increased dramatically over the past 40 years.  It states that in 1950, only 10% of adults over the age of 45 had this disease, in 1955 it was 15%, in 1972 it was 30% and in 1987 almost 50%.  The latest edition states that the incidence of diverticulosis increases rapidly over age 40 and that EVERY person, 100%, will have diverticulosis if they live long enough!.  Every American adult will have herniation of the large intestine.

What Causes 100% of Americans to End Up With Colon Disease?
It is simply the average American's bad food program, lack of exercise and high-stress lifestyle.  Just imagine all of that dead decaying meat, junk food and drugs going into your mouth, all of it passing through your digestive tract into your bloodstream, your brain, your heart and then (hopefully) out through your liver, bowel and kidneys.

Your average high school health books and medical texts all say that the normal frequency for a bowel movement is three to five times per week.  However, studies have shown the bowel movements of primitive people, who eat very natural diets of high fiber, unprocessed foods, plus get plenty of exercise and have little or no stress, they have multiple bowel movements each day.  At least one for every major meal they eat!

So, obviously, it is our fiberless American junk food feast that causes the average American to be 70,000 bowel movements short in their lifetime!  It's high time that we started talking about the "real cause", how to heal it and more importantly, how to prevent it.  For more information on colon cleansing and how you can begin your journey toward more optimum health, contact us at www.LaVidaSanaWellness.com.

Elimination Effect: Clear Skin Depends on Internal Wellness

Article borrowed from Shelley Burns, N.D., posted on ABMP.com

Do you often wonder why a skin blemish has not resolved or why acne outbreaks continue in spite of countless therapies? If so, you may need to dig a bit deeper and look inside--inside your body, that is. Good digestive health and the health of your colon can mean healthy skin.

The Question Is, How? Both the colon and skin are responsible for absorbing and releasing chemicals, water, and other metabolic products. The colon is the largest internal organ in the body. Its function is specifically to absorb food, nutrients, and water.

One function of skin is to help the body breathe. It inhales and exhales similar to how the lungs work. Inhalation and exhalation by the skin allows it to open pores and perspire. So, sweating is a good thing.

When the colon is unable to get rid of waste produced from food, the colon becomes constipated and toxic. The skin also becomes toxic in trying to perform the elimination function, and often results in skin eruptions in the form of acne, eczema, and psoriasis.

Prevention
You can avoid some of this trouble with these tips:
  • Consider removing certain foods from your diet--especially dairy. An allergy to milk and other dairy products can cause severe acne.
  • Drink at least 64-80 ounces of water every day, as it lubricates the colon and helps with regularity.
  • Refrain from dehydrating beverages like alcohol, coffee, and soda, as they can cause constipation.
  • Strive for a daily bowel movement-- try 1-3 teaspoons of ground flax seeds added to your breakfast.
Beautiful skin starts from the inside out. Adopting these practices will not only improve colon and skin health, but will promote your overall health as well.

Microcurrent Facial Sculpting without Surgery!

By Pamela Miller

Who says there’s no magic wand for anti-aging?

People all over the world are discovering a better way to achieve beautiful looking skin with a more natural look and without the unnatural appearance that is often a result from cosmetic surgery.

Facial Sculpting is a technique used to stimulate and exercise all facial tissues through specifically designed facial wands. These “magic” wands glide over the treated area and emit a gentle microcurrent to the cells, rehabilitating and firming the facial muscles. The current penetrates deep into the connective tissues of the skin, increasing production of collagen and elastin which smooths out lines and softens wrinkles.

Expect to turn back the clock on aging. You will be able to see a noticeable improvement after the very first visit. Your results will become more dramatic as the treatments progress. On the average, 10 to 15 treatments may be needed to achieve maximum benefit depending on age, skin condition and facial tone.

Looking younger has never been so easy. Women and men of all ages can benefit from the Non-Surgical Facial Sculpting Machine. It helps young people maintain their youthful appearance longer and older people to regain their youthful appearance.

Here is what the beauty industry has to say about the “The Lunch Time Face Lift”:

Cosmopolitan Magazine describes the procedure as “the star wars of modern facials”.
Health and Fitness Magazine: “A gentle electronic facial that makes you look younger, requires no effort and doesn’t hurt”.
Good Housekeeping Magazine: “Made me look as if I’d had the best eight hours sleep of my life”.
Hello Magazine: “It’s pain free and you can see immediate results”.
Best Magazine: “The impulses work to lift sagging jaw, cheek and neck muscles and soften superficial lines and wrinkles”.
Health and LIfestyle Magazine: “I can promise you this treatment is going to revolutionize our looks”.

Experience for yourself more youthful, radiant skin. Now for a limited time only, you’ll receive one FREE 30-Minute Microcurrent Facial Sculpting procedure!  Call us at 760.807.1845 to schedule an appointment or visit our website at www.ProAestheticSolutions.com for more information.

Promoting Beauty with Food

Most of us associate beauty with youthfulness which has resulted in the “anti-aging” concept. Deficiencies in vital nutrients, proteins and essential fatty acids can sabotage the health and beauty of your skin. Another critical anti-aging concept is relaxation as stress causes the release of cortisol which increases cravings, blood sugar and inflammation. The result is accelerated aging by a continuous cycle of stress, weight gain, inflammation, and more stress.

It’s no secret that consuming a blend of fresh fruits, vegetables and clean proteins, plus drinking a sufficient amount of water to stay hydrated translates into clean and vibrant skin. Research now suggests the earlier you begin an antioxidant program, the better the results will be. The antioxidant power of super foods  support  radiant skin, exercise recovery, metabolism, energy, a healthy digestive system and regularity, a healthy cardiovascular system, healthy immunity, detoxification, normal blood sugar and much more.

So how do we get the necessary vitamins needed for a healthy body inside and out? Your local Farmer’s Market may be a good place to start. Vitamin C is available through fruits, vegetables and supplements. Eating foods rich in orange and yellow pigments such as apricots, carrots, papaya, cantaloupe, yams and mangos will give you beta-carotene. A diet rich in vitamin E would include sunflower seeds and raw almonds. Garlic is an antioxidant that helps fight free radical buildup. A diet that includes a variety of mushrooms is helpful for overall immunity. Omega-3  fatty acids includes a diet rich in coldwater fish as well as avocados, olive oil, flaxseeds and walnuts. Did you know Omega-3 fatty acids can help combat dry skin conditions including eczema and psoriasis? Consuming a diet rich in apples, onions, red grapes, citrus fruits, cherries, raspberries, cranberries and broccoli helps to provide quercetin which is referred to as an anti-allergy nutrient. The best sources of selenium are tuna, red snapper, whole grains, egg yolks, sunflower seeds, brazil nuts and brown rice. It can also be found in many vegetables. Foods rich in zinc would include beans, nuts, whole grains, oysters, beef and dark turkey meat.

A healthy, well balanced diet not only promotes healthy skin, but also reduces the risk of heart disease, diabetes and possibly certain types of cancer, and contributes to an overall feeling of vitality and energy. Avoid foods that are processed or contain artificial sweeteners. Minimize red meat, white flour, coffee and alcohol. These can also trigger eczema, acne, cysts, rosacea and wrinkles.  Aging gracefully and remaining youthful looking long into your golden years really begins inside with well-balanced, nutritious food.

The Immune System and Aging Skin

There are three components of the skin:  Collagen provides support and structure, Elastin makes the skin elastic and Glycosaminoglycans (GAG’s) make it strong, elastic and youthful. In healthy, young skin, all three components are produced in plentiful quantities.

The epidermis provides a barrier that protects the body from external insults while the dermis provides the necessary support required to maintain the epidermis. If the dermis becomes weakened, then outward signs of aging begin to appear. Things change when a person ages. The result is an increase in wrinkles, pigmentation, sagging, enlarged pores and changes in the skin’s thickness.

As the largest organ of the body, the skin also represents the largest organ of the immune system. When immunity is working at optimum levels, the body has a defense that wards off infection, disease and other unwanted invaders. Toxic substances enter the body every day by way of air, food, water and medications. If left to move freely about the body, they will cause damage to many organs and the immune system, which will eventually make a person look and feel tired, old and worn out.

The three known means to combat aging and inflammation are diet, exercise and the use of supplements (herbs, vitamins, topical creams, etc.). Adequately nourishing your immune system improves its ability to fight invaders by increasing the number of white cells in the immune system and establishing a solid beauty base that start deep in the body and work their way toward the surface.

Essential Anti-Aging  Skin Care Ingredients
The most important vitamin antioxidants in skincare treatments are vitamins A, C, E and Beta-Carotene. Vitamin A prevents, normalizes , restores and helps repair damaged skin. Vitamin E protects collagen from destruction by UV rays. Vitamin C protects the cells and prevents hyperpigmentation. Vitamins C and E protect the skin from sun damage. And finally, with the number of Melanoma cases on the rise and the knowledge that up to 90% of the visible changes commonly attributed to aging are caused by sun exposure, applying broad –spectrum UV protection is critical.

Soothe Your Skin’s Winter Ailments

The drying effects of winter are upon us. Here are some at-home ideas to help soothe your skin through this challenging season.

Cleanse: Put away your foaming gels and soaps and stock up on creamy products. Cleansing creams, lotions, and milks are great winter choices, because they don't contain the harsh, oil-stripping detergents found in most cleansing gels.

Tone:
Shelve your astringents and switch to a toner. In the cold months, your skin needs to be soothed and balanced, not dried out further.

Moisturize: Choose heavier creams than you would in summer months. You can even use your heavy eye cream on your lips and face. If your skin itches, the dry air is causing the moisture in the top layer of your skin to evaporate quickly. Slather those areas with extra moisture until you feel relief, and never be afraid of using pure oils on your skin--a bottle of jojoba or olive oil is great to have on hand.

Exfoliate: Exfoliate twice a week to remove dead skin cells and help your skin absorb the extra moisture you are using. Because central heating systems reduce the amount of sebum our skin secretes, contributing to dryness, exfoliation will free this natural regulating agent. Use a cream-based exfoliant with jojoba beads, so your body can soak up the rich oils.

Hydrate: For a simple in-home hydrotherapy treatment, start your day with a steamy shower. Just as you are finishing, switch the water to cold for about 15 seconds and then back to warm for 15 seconds. Repeat the process for two minutes.

Shower and Bathe with Oils: Did you know you can apply body oil, lotion, or cream during your shower or bath? The heat and steam help your skin to thoroughly absorb the moisture.
